20U Portable Server Transit Rack Case
This custom 20U portable transit case was designed for moving servers into data centers. The unique design features clear front and rear doors allowing each rack to pass through RFID portals for asset management.
The rack interior features a ½” plywood inner shell that is surrounded by 2” foam on all asides. The foam provides shock protection and isolates the rack shell from the outer case. The rack shell is 37.75” deep with front & rear mounted box rail. The front and rear rails are recessed 4.125” from the front and rear doors with 29.5” between the rails. A storage compartment is located below the main rack section which provides a space for additional rack mount kits and accessories.
The case exterior is built from ½’ plywood laminated with red ABS plastic. The front and rear doors are built out of .375” smoked Lexan plastic and mounted on 270-degree hinges which allow them to fold flat against the case sides during use. A magnet is located on each side of the case to hold the doors when they are in the open position. ½” marine grade plastic runners are located around the case perimeter to prevent the hinge knuckles from conflicting with other cases. An individual bar code tag is included on each door that matches the unique serial number located on each LM ID tag. The bar codes help with inventory management on the customer’s end as each LM Case features a unique serial number. The exterior case hardware set includes locking paddle latches and deep recessed handles. The case rides on Colson 4” x 2” casters with the front 2 casters being outfitted with brakes.
