18 Capacity Coaches Wardrobe Trunk w/Charging & Laundry Drop
This custom 18-capacity coaches trunk with integrated charging, power distribution, garment storage, and post-game laundry collection was built by LM Cases for Southern Illinois University Carbondale to give athletic staff a secure, organized, and mobile solution for clothing, electronics, accessories, and everyday team support equipment.
The case is divided into two primary storage areas. One side features a tall multi-shelf system designed to organize clothing, shoes, accessories, and other coach or team gear. The shelving is broken into individual compartments, helping keep multiple users or categories of equipment separated and easy to access.
The opposite side incorporates a large vertical hanging-clothes compartment with a garment bar for jackets, uniforms, and other apparel that needs to remain hanging rather than folded. A clear Lexan retaining door covers this compartment from the inside, helping keep clothing contained during transport.
A key feature of the design is the side-mounted trap door, which works together with the Lexan retaining door to create a fast post-game laundry collection system. After a game, coaches and staff can drop dirty uniforms and clothing directly through the side of the trunk without opening the main case. The Lexan door keeps the clothing contained inside the hanging compartment, allowing the trunk to remain closed for a quick departure. Once the case returns to the locker room or equipment facility, the equipment manager can open the trunk and empty the compartment in a controlled environment.
This makes the coaches trunk part of the team’s actual post-game workflow rather than simply a storage case. Clean garments can travel organized in the hanging section on the way to the event, while the same area can be used to collect dirty clothing for the return trip.
Below the main storage areas are multiple drawers for accessories, electronics, supplies, and other smaller equipment. Removable dividers allow the drawer layout to be adjusted for different types of gear.
The trunk also incorporates an integrated charging and courtesy-power panel. The panel includes eight USB-A charging ports for phones, tablets, radios, and other USB-powered devices, along with two Neutrik powerCON outletsfor additional AC power distribution.
The powerCON outlets are intended to interface with the LM Tour Systems powerCON 4-Plex courtesy power cable, allowing standard Edison outlets to be positioned wherever they are needed around the trunk. The original build included a 2 ft. powerCON-to-4-Plex cable for convenient additional AC outlets.
A built-in cable reel provides organized storage for the trunk’s primary power cable, helping keep the electrical system self-contained and reducing loose cabling during travel and setup.
For security, the case includes a key-lock latch and hasp, helping protect personal items, electronics, and other equipment stored inside.
Built using LM Cases’ heavy-duty ATA-style construction, the original SIU Carbondale trunk is finished in Wine-colored laminate and rides on heavy-duty casters for easy movement through locker rooms, stadiums, hotels, athletic facilities, and team travel environments. The finished case weighs approximately 155 lbs. empty.
This style of trunk is ideal for professional and collegiate sports teams, coaches, equipment managers, athletic departments, and other organizations that need garment storage, charging, power distribution, accessory organization, and post-game laundry collection consolidated into one mobile road case.
