Coach To Player Storage/Charging Workstation For UNC Charlotte

This custom Coach-to-Player sideline workstation was built by LM Cases for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The case is designed to provide organized helmet storage with USB A & C charge ports in each compartment, integrated power for the work surface, small parts storage via containers with removable bins and a lid that converts into a table.

The lid includes 4 Milwaukee Pack Out units for small parts storage. These units can be removed from the lid and be used outside of the case. Each unit features 6 removable cups perfect for small parts like screws and snap buttons. The Pack Out units feature a rubber gasket which keeps parts contained and waterproof. The lid is supported by gas springs to aid in opening and closing in addition to keeping the lid open and stable during use. The lid features a large light to illuminate the entire work surface. This light is operated by a centrally located light switch which is white in color for high visibility. The switch also features a white LED light allowing it to be easily found in the dark. A courtesy outlet is provided for the work surface. This features 2 AC outlets, a USB C and a USB A charge port. Two locking Powercon jacks are provided for additional outlets. A LM Tour Systems Powercon To 4-Plex outlet bank is included to provide 4 additional outlets. Another Powercon outlet is available. A Powercon to Pendant Box cable can optionally be ordered should additional charge ports be required. The work surface is built from ½” white marine grade plastic for maximum visibility.

Below the work surface are two storage drawers. Each drawer features internal dimensions of 23.25” wide x 21” deep x 4” tall. Like the work surface, the drawers are built from ½” white marine grade plastic and are mounted on HD Accuride slides. The drawers feature ¼” marine grade configurable dividers allowing the user to arrange the drawers in any way they would like. The interior structure is built as a fully modular unit and is isolated from the exterior shell using PE foam. This design reduces stress on hardware during transport and prevents load transfer to drawer glides and internal components.

Below the drawers are 8 compartments sized around XL helmets. Each compartment features usable dimensions of 12.75” wide x 13” tall x 18.25” deep. The compartments feature a LM Tour Systems DSK-AC box that is loaded with a duplex outlet with USB charge ports. These boxes are flush mounted with the back of each compartment and provide 2 AC outlets, 1 USB A charge port and 1 USB C charge port for each compartment. As configured the case features a total of 22 AC outlets, 9 USB A charge ports and 9 USB charge ports. Power is brought into the case via a LM Tour Systems DSK-I inlet loaded with a locking True1 power connector. A LM Tour Systems 25ft True1 – Edison power cable is included to power the case. All electrical components were installed and specified by the LM Cases Custom Integration department.

The exterior case is constructed from 1/2” plywood laminated with forest green ABS plastic. The hardware set includes 18 deep recessed handles and recessed lid stays. The case rides on 6” field casters mounted to the case via a ¾” Baltic Birch caster board. The front 2 casters are locking. The case exterior features field replaceable ½” marine grade plastic runners allowing the case to be flipped on its back if needed.
