4RU Flyable Network / DSP Rack For Audio Deployments

This custom flyable network rack was built for Brown Note Productions as a way to keep their network switches and DSP as close to PA hangs as possible. The rack shell features a welded, flyable frame allowing the 4RU rack to be flown via a line array bumper.

The case features a custom fly frame built from 1” box tubing. The inner frame features 6 forged steel hoist rings: 4 for load bearing and 2 for safety tethers. Each ring is rated for a 550lb load with a safety factor of 5:1. The rings can spin 360 degrees and feature ASME, CE and MIL standard safety ratings. The frame features 2 – 4U rack rail sets, front & rear. The rear rail is flush, with the front rail recessed 2”. A 1” plastic block is included at each front rail piece as an additional safety measure to prevent equipment from falling out in case the rack screws should come loose.

Since the rack is designed to fly with the equipment facing towards the ground, the back of the rack features a ¼” marine grade plastic dust cover. 2U is exposed in the dust cover allowing for a 2U brush panel to be installed allowing cables to exit. 70A durometer vibration dampening isolation mounts are provided as a barrier between the inner fly frame and the case exterior.

The case exterior is built from ½” plywood laminated with black ABS plastic. The exterior features 4 deep recessed handles. The exterior is designed simply as a protective cover. All weight is supported by the inner fly frame.
