Ampeg PF-115HE Road Case with 2RU Rack & Adjustable SE Filter Mic Mount
The LM Cases Ampeg PF-115HE Case with Integrated Rack is a custom touring solution designed to protect an Ampeg PF-115HE bass cabinet while integrating rackmount equipment, system I/O, microphone hardware, and cable management into one compact, road-ready package.
The amplifier compartment is built around the dimensions of the PF-115HE and uses a close-fitting shock-mounted foam enclosure to minimize unnecessary case size while providing protection during transport. All interior foam is wrapped in burgundy crushed velvet for a finished appearance and additional surface protection.
Above the amplifier is an integrated front-and-rear rack section providing 2RU of rack rail, with additional clearance above the front rack space to accommodate larger-format equipment. The rack section is positioned toward the front of the case to help keep the overall case depth as compact as possible, while still providing approximately 17.75" of usable rack depth.
One of the more unique elements of the design is the integrated microphone-positioning system. Additional rack rail is installed vertically along the left and right sides of the amplifier cavity. A custom 1U rack panel spans this rail and serves as the mounting platform for the SE Electronics GuitaRF filter. Because the panel can be installed at different positions along the vertical rack rail, the microphone assembly can be adjusted up or down relative to the speaker cabinet.
The custom panel itself includes multiple elongated mounting slots that allow the SE filter to be repositioned laterally across the face of the amplifier. Together, the vertical rack rail and slotted panel provide both up/down and left/right adjustment, allowing the microphone and reflection filter to be positioned precisely in front of the speaker without requiring a conventional microphone stand. The rack panel geometry is based on LM design 23-0191.
The case also incorporates rear trap-door access to both the rack equipment and the amplifier connections, allowing the system to remain substantially wired while still providing access for service and setup. Internal cable routing connects the rack section, microphone system, I/O, and amplifier compartment while keeping cabling contained within the case.
The removable front lid is deep enough to accommodate the SE filter with the microphone and XLR cable left connected. Integrated cable straps inside the lid provide storage for the associated cable loom, helping reduce setup and teardown time while keeping the complete microphone package with the amplifier system. The final drawing specifies approximately 4" of lid depth for this purpose.
The exterior uses LM Cases' heavy-duty ATA-style construction with recessed hardware, heavy-duty casters, and provisions for custom identification. The original system incorporates “SL” and “DO NOT TIP” markings on both sides along with a custom “Stone Blossoms” silkscreen on the front.
This case is especially well suited for touring bass rigs and repeatable live or studio setups where the amplifier cabinet, rack equipment, microphone, reflection filter, I/O, and cabling need to travel together as a single self-contained system.
