24ch IEM Rack w/Mic Split Panel

This custom 24-channel in-ear monitor rack was designed and integrated by LM Cases as a complete self-contained monitoring system for Spirit of the Bear. Built around a Behringer X Air XR18 digital mixer, Shure PSM300 wireless in-ear monitoring, dedicated networking, custom power distribution, and an LM-built 24-channel microphone split, the system provides the band with a compact and repeatable monitor package for live performance.

At the heart of the system is a custom 24-channel microphone splitter panel. Each channel features an XLR input and parallel XLR output, allowing stage microphone and instrument signals to enter the IEM rack while providing a direct split to the house or production audio system. Dedicated multicore tails are permanently wired from the splitter to the monitor mixer, reducing setup time and eliminating the need to repatch the mixer at every show.

The splitter is divided into three groups of eight channels using flexible multicore cabling. The corresponding XLR tails are color coded for quick identification and organization, and the hinged rack panel provides service access to the internal wiring. A custom laser-etched Spirit of the Bear logo finishes the panel and provides clear system identification.

Monitoring is handled by a Behringer XR18 digital mixer. This particular configuration uses 16 of the available 24 splitter channels, leaving eight additional split channels available for future expansion or direct pass-through applications.

A Shure PSM300 system provides wireless in-ear monitoring. For this build, the stereo transmitter is operated in dual-mono configuration to provide two independent monitor mixes. Custom LM Tour Systems Star Quad cables connect the mixer auxiliary outputs to the IEM transmitter.

Reliable mixer control is provided through an integrated network system consisting of a Luxul router and dedicated UniFi wireless access point. The router rack ears were modified by LM to incorporate front-mounted network connections, providing convenient WAN and LAN access without requiring users to reach into the rear of the rack.

System power is centralized through a modified rackmount power distribution unit. LM converted the power input to a locking powerCON connection, allowing the complete rack to be powered from a single detachable cable while providing a more secure connection for touring and live production use.

All internal audio, network, and power cabling is custom fabricated, labeled, routed, and terminated by LM for clean installation and simplified service. The complete system is installed in an LM Cases 8RU, 14-inch-deep rack case, providing a compact footprint while maintaining access to the mixer, wireless monitoring, networking, power, and microphone split.

This system was built specifically around Spirit of the Bear's workflow, but LM Cases can design and integrate IEM racks around a wide range of mixers, wireless systems, channel counts, networking equipment, split configurations, and power requirements.

LM integrated in-ear monitor systems can be supplied as complete turnkey packages including the road case, rack hardware, mixer, wireless IEM equipment, microphone splitting, RF and network components, power distribution, custom rack panels, cabling, labeling, integration, and system testing.
