Mens Hammer Throw Transport Case

This custom hammer throw transport case built by LM Cases is designed to protect and transport fully assembled track-and-field hammers without requiring the athlete or equipment staff to disconnect the handle and wire between uses.

Originally built for the University of Washington, the case is based around a Pelican 1770 long-format protective case and features custom-cut foam storage for three complete hammer assemblies. Each hammer is stored fully extended, with dedicated contours for the hammer ball, wire, and triangular handle. 

The custom foam interior is laid out so the three hammers alternate direction within the case, maximizing the available space while keeping each implement individually supported and separated. Dedicated circular pockets accommodate hammer balls up to approximately 5.5" in diameter, while shaped recesses capture the handle ends and maintain the full approximately 48" assembled length of each hammer. 

Multiple layers of PE and ester foam create a protective cradle around the equipment. The precision-cut foam supports the hammer heads, cables, and handles while helping prevent the implements from shifting or contacting one another during transportation. The foam package is built specifically around the shape of the assembled throwing equipment rather than relying on a generic open cavity. 

Using a long-format Pelican case provides a rugged, weather-resistant outer shell while keeping the case considerably more compact than a traditional plywood road trunk. The Pelican 1770 features integrated wheels and handles for easier movement through athletic facilities, airports, stadiums, and competition venues.

The original University of Washington case was designed around men's hammer throw equipment with an assembled length of approximately 48", a hammer ball diameter up to 5.5", and a triangular handle approximately 7.5" wide. The same concept can be adapted for men's and women's hammer throw equipment or customized around a team's specific implements.

Custom silkscreen graphics can also be added to the lid for team identification, school branding, or equipment labeling.
