Waterproof Discus Transport Case
This custom discus transport case built by LM Cases is designed to provide a compact, durable, and configurable way to transport competition discus for collegiate and professional track & field programs.
Originally developed for the University of Washington, the case is built around a Pelican 1610 protective case and features a custom removable foam interior designed specifically for discus equipment. The original configuration was developed to transport up to eight men's discus while keeping each implement individually separated and protected.
Rather than using one permanent foam insert, the interior is divided into two removable foam sections. This allows men's and women's discus inserts to be interchanged so a team can configure the same case for all men's implements, all women's implements, or a combination of men's and women's discus depending on the needs of a particular meet.
The foam layout positions each discus vertically in an individual precision-cut compartment. The men's configuration was designed around discus measuring approximately 8.75" in diameter and 1.875" thick, with the foam cavities extending approximately 7.25" deep.
The modular insert system uses multiple layers of dense PE foam to create a stable structure inside the case. Each section can be removed independently, allowing alternate insert configurations to be installed without replacing the entire interior. The layered foam construction supports the discs throughout their depth while preventing individual implements from contacting one another during transportation.
By using the Pelican 1610 as the outer case, LM Cases was able to keep the system compact while still providing the durability, mobility, and weather-resistant construction needed for frequent team travel. The case includes integrated wheels and a retractable handle, making it well suited for movement through airports, stadiums, athletic facilities, and competition venues.
Custom silkscreen graphics can also be applied to the lid for school branding, team identification, or equipment labeling.
