Tam Tam Transport Case

This custom case built by LM Cases is designed to hold an orchestral tam tam. The design includes a welded aluminum 4” x 2” tube frame to hold the instrument.

The case features a split lid which LM refers to as a G style. The lids can be operated independently allowing the case to be used by one person. The lids can also remain latched together and used like a traditional pull over style. Each lid features custom foam blocking to support the tam tam frame and prevent the tam tam from swinging while in transport. The case tray is black carpet lined.

The tam tam is suspended from a custom welded aluminum frame. The frame is built from 4” x 2” aluminum tubing that is mitered and welded at each side. The frame is mounted to the case tray and features aluminum angle support pieces for additional support. The tam tam is intended to remain attached to the frame and played while in the case. The case tray doubles as a cart to move the instrument around a facility.

The exterior case is built from 3/8” plywood laminated with black ABS plywood. The hardware set includes 6 deep recessed handles and 8 latches. The case rides on 4” Colson locking casters mounted via a ¾” plywood caster board. A “US Army Field Band” stencil is provided on the front & back of the case.

Special thanks to the US Army Field Band!
