Custom Workstation Road Case For A ETC Apex 5 Lighting Console

This custom workstation was built for Walt Disney World to hold a ETC APEX 5 lighting console. The workstation will be used in an outdoor venue and brought out for shows. The workstation features a slide out shelf for the console with power, a pole mounted monitor attached to an articulating mount, a rack section and storage drawers.

The ETC APEX 5 console is mounted on a custom-built slide out shelf. The shelf is built from ¾” Baltic Birch plywood that is finished with black Formica laminate. The shelf is specifically designed to be generic allowing Disney to swap lighting consoles as needed. The top surface features 2 LM Tour Systems DSK-AC power boxes loaded with Leviton power outlets that feature USB A & C charging ports. A hardwired locking IEC power cable is provided for the console. The customer provided monitor is attached to sliding worksurface via a folding aluminum pole with an articulating Chief mount. The divider that supports the slide out shelf features ¼” marine grade plastic lined cable troughs. These allow the cable umbilical from the work surface to slide easily.

The bottom portion of the case features a shock mounted 13 space rack. The rack is 28” deep with 26.75” between the front and rear rack rails. The bottom of the rack features 4 ultra-quiet AC Infinity fans. The fans are wired to a controller that allows users to monitor the temperature and control fan speed. The controller is mounted in a custom built 2U panel designed by LM Tour Systems for the AC Infinity controller. The panel features 2 D-punches for future expansion. Power and signal are brought into the case via a custom LM Tour Systems IO panel that features a True1 Inlet/Outlet combo, courtesy duplex outlet and 4 D-Punches. LM loaded the 4 D-Punches with 2 Neutrik NE8FDX-P6 network and 2 Neutrik NO4FDW-A fiber connectors. A 25ft HD LM Tour Systems True1- Edison power cable is provided to interface with the panel. The rack section features a split rear trap door allowing the top door to remain closed to hide the rack while the bottom portion is open to expose cables. All wiring was handled by the LM Cases Custom Integration Department.

The right half the of case features a foam lined compartment to store the monitor. The compartment features nonabrasive Crosslink foam allowing the monitor to be stored face down. The articulating mount remains attached to the monitor and stores on a shelf that prevents any stress or torsion from the mount from transferring to the monitor.

Below the monitor compartment are 2 storage drawers. Each drawer is built from ½” Baltic Birch plywood, finished with black texture coating and mounted on HD Accuride glides. The drawers feature the same internal dimensions of 23” wide x 22” deep x 6.25” tall. The front of the case features dual pocket doors that slide into the sides during use.

The exterior case is built from ½” plywood laminated with black ABS plastic. The case features deep recessed hardware and rides on 4” x 2” Colson casters. The case exterior is 48” wide x 30” deep for truck pack.
