Custom International Touring Network Rack with Integrated 120V / 240V Power System
This custom LM Cases touring network rack was built for productions traveling between North America, the UK, and Europe that need to keep rack-mounted networking equipment operating from a consistent 120V supply.
The system combines a 16U primary equipment rack with a dedicated 8U lower transformer compartment in a compact ATA-style rolling case. The upper rack section provides approximately 22" of usable rack width with rails adjustable in 0.750" increments, allowing the equipment layout to be tailored as the system evolves. Recessed LED tracks surround the front and rear of the main rack bay, providing clean internal illumination without taking up rack space.
Below the primary rack section is an isolated transformer compartment built around a custom-wound 80 lb transformer. The transformer is mounted to a marine-grade plastic plate and secured within a reinforced lower structure designed to handle the weight and vibration of international touring. A True1 passthrough connects the power compartment to the equipment rack while keeping the transformer and power components separated from the networking gear.
The integrated LM Tour Systems transfer switch panel allows the operator to verify incoming voltage before energizing the rack. When operating from 120V power, the system passes 120V directly to the rack. When operating from single-phase 240V power, the transformer converts the incoming voltage to a consistent 120V output for the installed equipment. Front-panel voltage metering provides confirmation of input and output conditions, while the main breaker allows the system to be checked before power is applied to the rack.
The power system is designed around a single True1 connection and can be supplied with LM Tour Systems World Power Cable Kit adapter tails for the countries on the tour itinerary. For this build, the intended international inputs include Type G and Schuko E/F connections, allowing the rack to travel between the UK and continental Europe while maintaining a standardized connection at the case.
A 2U fan panel provides active cooling when the system is operating in transformer mode. The panel uses one intake fan and two exhaust fans to help move heat away from the transformer compartment and maintain airflow through the case. The rack also includes the LM Tour Systems 25-0470 LED controller, featuring True1 power, 4-pin XLR lighting outputs, preset color selection, and adjustable manual color control.
Storage is built into the front of the case for touring accessories, power cables, adapter tails, and patch cables. The lower drawer uses heavy-duty Accuride slides and includes removable tech-divider foam for organized storage of small components. A dry-erase labeling area on the drawer face gives the crew a quick way to identify drawer contents at the venue.
The case is finished in black and measures approximately 24.125" wide x 29.875" deep x 64.625" high. Front and rear removable pop-in doors protect the system in transit, while side-mounted handle hangers allow the lids to store directly on the case during deployment. Recessed hardware, integrated casters, adjustable rack rails, internal lighting, reinforced transformer mounting, and dedicated accessory storage make this a purpose-built touring solution for productions that need network infrastructure and international power conversion in one package.

This custom coffee and amenities workstation case was built for Northwestern University to provide a mobile beverage and refreshment station.
The case includes a commercial Keurig coffee maker on a slide-out shelf with custom retention and a drip coffee urn used to serve the university’s special blend known as “Jarv Juice.” An illuminated sign with the Northwestern logo and purple LED lighting indicates when the coffee is ready. The system also features a cup dispenser, paper towel dispenser, and multiple storage drawers for supplies.
