Coffee Maker Amenities Case For Northwestern University
This fully integrated coffee/amenities case was built for Northwestern University. The case features 2 coffee makers, cup dispenser, refrigerator, towel dispenser and storage drawers.
Two coffee makers are included in this build, a commercial grade Keurig and a medium format urn for drip coffee. The Keurig is mounted on a slide out shelf and is countersunk into a custom CNC cut bracket that contours the shape of the machine which prevents movement when the case is on the road. A piece of Crosslink foam gently keeps the Keurig in place via downward pressure when the machine is retracted in the case.
The second machine is a traditional coffee urn designed for batches of drip coffee. Northwestern has a special blend of coffee created by longtime equipment manager Bill Jarvis known as “Jarv Juice”. A custom etched plastic sign showing the Northwestern “N” logo in addition to the “Jarv Juice” text is illuminated with purple LED’s when the coffee is ready. The sign is wired to a white illuminated switch mounted in a LM Tour Systems DSK-AC box. The switch also controls purple LED back lighting to highlight each coffee machine. The coffee urn requested by Northwestern did not come with a factory power switch. The LM Cases custom integration department created a switch using a DSK-SM box and upgraded the power cable to a locking IEC. This box is located on the slide out shelf behind the coffee urn.
Located between the two coffee machines are a dual row cup dispenser and a C-fold paper towel dispenser. Storage drawers are also included below the coffee makers. These drawers are open with internal dimensions of 20.5” wide x 16.5” deep x 4.375” tall.
A refrigerator is provided in this system. The factory power cable is upgraded with locking connectors ensuring that power will not disconnect while the case is traveling. The refrigerator features a stainless-steel door with a glass front and internal LED lighting. 3 additional storage drawers are provided to the right of the refrigerator. Each drawer has internal dimensions of 24.25” wide x 16.5” deep x 7.625” tall. The drawers all feature “+” shaped dividers that split the drawers into 4 equal compartments.
Power is brought into the case via a LM Tour Systems DSK-I series box. This box features a locking Neutrilk True1 inlet ensuring that power is not accidentally disconnected during use. A 25ft LM Tour Systems True1 – Edison power cable is included.
The exterior case is built from ½” plywood laminated charcoal ABS plastic. The front 2 doors are mounted on 270-degree double hinges allowing them to fold flat against the side of the case during use. Each lid is operated by a single handle that operates catches located at the top and bottom of the lids. The case rides on HD 6” field casters and features a 2-color silkscreen of the Northwestern logo.
Special thanks to Northwestern for a great project
