Large Format Analog Audio Console Stand For Midas Heritage 2000
This custom console stand built by LM Cases is designed specifically for a 48-channel Midas Heritage 2000 analog audio console. Built for a permanent recording studio installation, the stand provides a purpose-built alternative to a traditional EZ-Tilt style console stand while offering the structural support, mobility, and finished appearance required for a high-end studio environment.
The stand is constructed primarily from 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood and finished in a durable black textured coating. Much of the structure is laminated to create substantial 1.5" thick support sections, providing the strength required for a large-format analog console of this size.
The complete stand separates into three major pieces: a large upper console support assembly and two removable wheeled side assemblies. This modular design makes the stand considerably easier to transport, maneuver through a building, and assemble at the final installation location. The original CAD drawing specifically calls for the stand to be constructed as three separate sections and assembled at the venue.
Supporting a Midas Heritage 2000 presents a unique structural challenge. The bottom of the console chassis is largely open, with the console's weight concentrated on heavy steel rails located along the far left and right sides rather than being distributed across the center of the desk. Because of this, LM Cases designed the stand specifically around those factory chassis support points.
Machined marine-grade plastic support and alignment pieces are located at each side of the stand. These pieces incorporate locating notches that allow the steel console chassis rails to drop into position, positively locating the Heritage 2000 and helping prevent the console from shifting once installed. The drawing also specifies multiple HDPE alignment strips at the console support areas.
To reinforce the long span beneath the console, the upper assembly incorporates two 1" square structural tubes running across the stand. These tubes are captured within the Baltic Birch structure and locate into corresponding slots in the side assemblies. This construction helps prevent the approximately 85" wide top from sagging while also creating a strong mechanical connection between the upper platform and the two dollies.
Each side assembly rides on 4" x 2" Colson casters with soft, non-marring wheels suitable for hardwood and other finished studio floors. Rather than using conventional swivel casters, the stand was intentionally designed with fixed casters so the entire console can move smoothly in a straight line forward and backward.
That detail is particularly important in an installed studio environment. When rear access is required for patching, cabling, or maintenance, the console can simply be pulled forward. Once the work is complete, it can be rolled directly back into its operating position without the side-to-side movement that can occur as swivel casters rotate into the direction of travel. The CAD drawing also identifies locking positions at the front of the caster assemblies.
Large integrated handles provide convenient handholds for moving the console forward and backward. They can also serve as useful attachment points for cable looms and other studio infrastructure.
The stand also includes headphone hanger assemblies on both the left and right sides, positioned beneath the front edge of the work surface. This keeps headphones accessible to the engineer while keeping the console surface clear.
For a custom visual detail, each side assembly features a routed LM Cases logo backed with purple Lexan, intentionally matching the distinctive purple color scheme of the Midas Heritage console. Combined with the black textured finish, the stand has a clean, integrated appearance appropriate for a permanent recording studio installation.
The height of the installation was also intentionally configured around the surrounding studio equipment. The rear of the console sits approximately 45" above the floor, providing the clearance required for equipment racks positioned below the desk while still allowing the console to be moved forward when access to the rear panel is required.
With its purpose-built chassis support, reinforced construction, three-piece modular design, straight-line mobility, custom aesthetic details, and integrated studio accessories, this LM Cases console stand provides a highly specialized installation solution for one of the most substantial large-format analog mixing consoles.
