Yamaha DM5 Tour Grade Case (Triad Orbit Ready)
This tour-grade console case was designed by LM Cases for the Yamaha DM5 digital mixing console. The case features a three-piece Q-style design with a full-width doghouse, integrated monitor storage, slide-out keyboard drawer, reversible Ergotron monitor arm, and custom CNC-cut foam protection. This is also the first LM Cases console case to feature our new Triad Orbit Ready mounting system, allowing users to integrate a wide variety of production accessories directly into the workstation.
The Triad Orbit Ready system features eight dedicated mounting locations distributed throughout the case. Each location has a custom recessed pocket that contours the shape of the Triad Orbit IO-WSP steel mounting plate. Heavy-duty 3/8”-16 threaded inserts and black stainless steel mounting bolts are provided to secure the IO-WSP to the case. Once installed, the Triad Orbit iO quick-change system allows users to build modular mounting configurations using microphone booms, tablet holders, wireless antennas, utility shelves, and other compatible accessories. The mounting system allows the workstation to be reconfigured for different production requirements without modifying the case.
In our demonstration configuration, Triad Orbit accessories are used to support talkback microphones, a 13” iPad, a Shure PA805SWB wireless antenna, a utility desk for scripts or cue sheets, and an OM orbital boom for measurement or recording microphones. The modular design allows these accessories to be repositioned or exchanged depending on whether the console is being used for front-of-house mixing, monitor mixing, broadcast, or other production applications.
The console is housed in a custom fitted compartment and secured by its feet using CNC-routed mounting locations. Additional rubber-tipped supports provide retention at the rear of the console. The interior features custom contoured, nonabrasive crosslink foam to protect the console's control surface, edges, and wrist rest during transportation. The foam also incorporates reliefs for the reversible Ergotron monitor mount.
The full-width doghouse is constructed from 3/4” Baltic Birch plywood finished with black textured coating. The doghouse features a hinged fold-back top lid, rear access panel, and open storage space beneath the console. An Ergotron LX Pro articulating monitor arm is mounted to the doghouse and can be installed on either side of the workstation. This provides a convenient mounting solution for additional production displays, including Waves plugin interfaces, Smaart measurement software, wireless microphone monitoring, system processing, and video feeds.
Additional workstation features include a slide-out keyboard drawer with LM Cases' finished cherry wood wrist rest and two retractable headphone hangers. The removable top lid features a custom crosslink foam-lined storage compartment designed for a Dell 24” touchscreen monitor, along with a separate carpet-lined accessory compartment. Both compartments feature removable covers secured with quarter-turn latches to retain equipment during transportation.
The exterior case is constructed from 1/2” Baltic Birch plywood laminated with black ABS plastic. The three-piece design features heavy-duty Penn Elcom hardware, self-locating recessed latches, and 20 deep recessed handles positioned throughout the lids, console tray, and caster board. Four 4” Colson casters are mounted to a 3/4” Baltic Birch caster board for transportation.
The Yamaha DM5 Tour Grade Case represents the next evolution of LM Cases' professional console workstations. By combining traditional tour-grade construction with integrated Triad Orbit mounting capabilities, the case provides a highly configurable platform that can evolve with the changing requirements of professional audio production.
