Installed Yamaha QL5 Mixing Console Work Station Desk
This case was built for a church to provide a front of house work station to hold their Yamaha QL5 mixer, and provide storage for production equipment.
The case features a dual split top lid. Each lid section is designed to allow a single person to remove it. The console sits at 43” off the ground to provide an ergonomic standing height for the user. A rear mounted doghouse is provided to cover the connections made in the back of the console. The doghouse is built from ¾” Baltic Birch, and features a double hinged top lid that folds flat against its back.
A storage drawer and slide out shelf are mounted below the console. The case features 2 – 14RU rack sections. Each rack section features front and rear pre-tapped rack rail with 20” of spacing between the front and rear rails. The front rails are recessed 5” into the case to prevent damage from operators feet if they are sitting while mixing.
The bottom portion of the case features front and rear lids built from ½” marine grade plastic. These lids feature recessed handles and HD Southco slam latches for quick removal. The rear lid is designed to stay attached at all times. Cable passages are provided to allow cables to stay connected with the lid closed. Recessed vent dishes are also provided to keep equipment cool when in use with the lid closed. Each vent features a custom pressed expanded metal grill.
The case is built from ½” Baltic Birch. All surfaces are finished with black texture coating. All hardware is black to help the case blend in. The case rides on 3.5” locking casters. The maximum exterior dimensions of the case including all hardware and casters are 55” wide x 30” deep x 54.875” tall.
