Portable Grass Valley Karrera Video Production Work Station

This case was built for World Stage to hold their Grass Valley Karrera production switcher. The Karrera is mounted to an extendable shelf that is designed to allow users to sit or stand behind the unit during operation. The case features 3 - 12RU rack bays for future expansion as well as storage for the control monitor and mount arm.
The Karrera is mounted to the extendable work surface by custom CNC cut marine grade plastic brackets that contour the shape of the switcher. In transit, the unit is held down by custom contoured foam blocks mounted in the lid. The work surface that the controller sits on features a multi-point locking system that allows the controller to be extended into various points and locked to prevent sliding during use. The work surface is built out of 3/4" Baltic birch and finished with black texture coating.
Below the work surface are 3 - 12RU rack bays designed to hold drawers or any drive components needed beyond the controller's support racks holding the main processors. Held in the bottom of one of the bays is a custom foam insert that holds the touch screen monitor's mount arm. The touch screen monitor is held in a custom 2" foam lined compartment to the left of the rack bays.
The exterior case is built from 1/2" plywood laminated silver ABS plastic and features a 3 color silkscreen of the World Stage logo, deep recessed handles, a PAL label dish, and Colson 4" x 2" casters with a full 3/4" Birch caster pad.
