Custom FOH Workstation For Avid S6L-32D Console
This custom installed workstation was built to hold an Avid S6L-32D console. The workstation is designed to operate in a theater to hold the house console. The design features dual 14U rack sections with 3 storage drawers.
The workstation is built from ¾” Baltic Birch plywood finished with black textured coating. The main work surface features a 5.25” deep doghouse to conceal the local connections of the console. The doghouse features a hinged lid attached via double knuckle hinges which allows the lid to fold open fully against the rear panel of the doghouse. Two fully articulating Ergotron monitor arms are installed to provide screens on both sides of the console.
Below the main work surface is a slide out shelf for the console’s keyboard. This shelf is built from ¾” Baltic birch, laminated with black Formica and wrapped in rubber T molding. The shelf is mounted on HD Accuride glides.
The bottom section features 2 – 14U rack sections. The front rail is recessed 8” with the rear rail recessed at 6.5”. Each rack section has an overall depth of 34.75” with a rail – rail depth of 20”. Each rack section features vented, hinged, rear door with slam latches. 3 drawers are provided for general storage between the 2 rack sections. Each drawer is built from ½” Baltic birch plywood, finished with black textured coating and mounted on HD Accuride glides. Each drawer features usable dimensions of 21.5” wide x 6.375” tall x 21.75” deep. The front storage section is protected by a clear 3/8” removable Lexan cover.
The workstation features black recessed Penn Elcom handles and rides on 6 – 3.5” Colson Poly Hi-Tech casters.
